MG Midget and Sprite Technical - suspension re build

fulcrum pin thread. I have been trying to put the
king pin back and there is a lot of play even with
cotter pin in. I wondered if the thread in the
wish bone needs cleaning out.the fulcrum pin is
and the fulcrum on the king pin is tight
any ideas??

Sorry, a bit confused by your post.

Do you need to clean out the wishbone thread? Maybe.
You must have removed the fulcrum to have been able to remove the king pin. How did the thread appear visually?

You say I think that the Kpin is tight on the fulcrum, but there is still play. Cleaning the wishbone thread won't remove this play. If anything it will increase it.

If I've understood you correctly, it sounds as if you need at least one new wishbone.

Could you re-post?
Lawrence Slater

Crikey Lawrence we agree.Coming to the Angel this sunday?
Alan Anstead

Sound advice. The threads in the wishbone into which the pin screws are known to wear badly and create slop.

The fulcrum pins are more likely to seize into the kingin rather than have play!

Well maybe Alan, as long as you don't whack me over the head with my stilsons. :)

Don't happen to know if the Angel does cream teas do you? My gf really loves to have a cream tea in an english country pub. And with weather as good as this, ---- .
Lawrence Slater

No stillsons or sockets allowed on premises.
Dont know about cream teas.

How about Toolmakers Clamps?

Bit hard on the teeth Peter, and anyway they're too big to go in a scone. :)

sorry about the confusion! thought the fulcrum
wast getting to the end of the thread.
cleaned everything out so that's now ok.
the trouble seems to be the bottom of the king pin

giving play with the fulcrum. So ordered overhauled
king pin so hope that will sort it out.
probably have to do the other side as well.
