MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Throttle linkage dilemma
I was digging around in the footwell (we all know how roomy it is) when I inadvertently pulled the pedal and the link came flying off. Am I correct in that the rod and clip are assembled as shown in the attached photo. Original 59 Frog linkage. Thanks ![]() |

Having fitted mine recently your correct. Although I’m not sure why yours is different to where it connects to the lever. A split pin and washer holds mine on. Hard to see from the photo what’s going on with yours. Might have something to do with it coming away. |

This is how it should look

Martin Looks like an old Fergy tractor throttle clip to me- It would go like this---pic ![]() |

The lever is stepped on the end to, I'm assuming, accept the clip. There is no hole for a split pin. I think that the end that goes onto the lever slides down far enough to where the clip locks the rod in place. I'll crawl in there later and see how it goes. |

I finally crawled back into the foot well and found a part of the clip that had broken off. Photo 1 I dug it out and figured out how it is supposed to go together. Photo 2 Now all I have to do is make mine look like the one in the photo that James posted. Tack weld a washer, install it and use my existing clip to hold it together. ![]() ![]() |
