MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Timing (1500)
Has anyone had problems getting the clamp on the dizzy to stay put. It mangaged to retard itself overnight the other day. How retarded is that? (about 14 degrees actually). It has a horrible square nut which fouls on the clamp (presumably deliberatly) - Mine looks a bit shagged so I think I'll put a new bolt through... but I can't seem to find a medium "tightness" where I can adjust the timing, its either really loose, or firm. Any ideas? |

Gary, did you just tighten it back up and all was well? Or any further problems since? Chris |

Take the clamp off and beat/hammer it back into some sort of proper shape. They get distorted with age (like many of us), probably from overtightening in the first place. The spannering bit doesn't need to be overdone. |

Thanks Guy, I'll have a go at that |

I had same problem. The clamp was out of shape as Guy suggested, but also the dizzy was not fully seated in the clamp. Good luck |
