MG Midget and Sprite Technical - tonneau studs
What is the technique for releasing the full tonneau from the four posts at the front - i use brute force but that cant be right....... |

The fasteners are known as “lift the dot” fasteners. They are slightly elongated and there is a raised dot to one side of the hole. Lift the fastener on this side by putting a finger under the tonneau and it should come free from the stud. Simon |

great - thanks - i always thought the tennax fastners where you pull the centre to release them were the "lift the dot" type - now it makes sense |

The lift the dot fasteners usually have "lift the dot" stamped into them, if you look closely! |

well you learn something every day, I didnt know that either |

There are two types LTD where you lift the elongated part where the dot is to release Tenax where you have a domed thing you have to pull on to release. The LTD studs are much bigger than the Tenax ones, the Tenax ones have a sharp little point and if you pull too hard and the release doesn't work, the point comes off the stud and the body fitting has to be replaced. |
