MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Trim Pliers
| ISTR many years ago, seeing pliers for fitting the tubular upholstery clips to seats. I thought they were sold by Eastwood or Frost, although they now seem to be the same company and don't seem to have the tool in question. Does anyone know where they can be found?

This guy specialises in trim clips - he might be able to help - https://www.bresco.com/

Dave Woolies sell a clip called a ‘hog ring’ and pliers to suit - see page 2 of their catalogue: https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/catalogue-request Any use? Cheers Mike

Thanks Mike. The hog ring is a different animal completely, I'm afraid.

Please correct me if I'm wrong Dave but with that clip, doesn't the material go over the frame and then that clip just pushes on and then the barbs hold it there. Or are you trying to remove it without damaging the trim. willy

IF it's the clip i'm thinking of it only has barbs on one end so you hook the barbs into the material then roll the other end without barbs over the frame. To remove it would be a matter of rolling the unbarbed end off the frame-------------------------yes/no

Willy You may be right. I haven’t tried yet. I just remember seeing the tool, in the dim and distant past, and wondered whether it was available.

Hmm - haven't seen one, so it'd have to be able to hold the clip and open it up a bit for easy removal/replacement. I'll ask my upholsterer mate and see what he knows- He's old and has all sorts of stuff I've never seen before---
