MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Type 9 box. How to identify different versions?

Thanks to replies to my original mail. I will try and source a Type 9 box here in Spain first. I understand there are several versions.Are they all from Sierra,s How do you identify a type 9 and versions. Thanks Beegee

Type 9 as fitted to Ford Sierra car
1.6;1.8;2.0 1982-1987
1.6;1.8 1982-1990/1991

A similar T9 is fitted to 2.3;2.8 but dont use as the primary imput shaft is too long.

With bellhousing removed your T9 imput shaft should measure 175mm

The only one i know of in the usa came out of a murcury EXP in mid 80s...but the tail shaft is to long

Actually, I think it was the Merkur XR4Ti and Scorpio, known to the rest of the world as the Ford Sierra.

The Ford EXP, aka the Mercury LN7, was an odd-looking little device based on our Ford Escort.

thanks to somebody on this BBS I found the following part to be very useful in reducing the rattle on the gearlever which the "specialist experts" overlooked and replaced the lever twice and botched it with grease the third time
