MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Underbonnet picture favour please

I need to replace the passenger footwell top and BMH don't make one so I have to make it up out of sheet myself. Only problem is, I don't have my old one and I'm not 100% sure of where the various brackets and loom clips go.

Has anyone got an underbonnet shot of a 1500?

I just need to be able to see the footwell top clearly.
Bob T

Best I've got right now, hope it's some help!

D Prince

Thank you!
That helps a lot. I can keep busy for the weekend ;-)
Bob T

Bob, you can get top and front sections as all one piece. Would that help? Just chop off the front bit.

I replaced front and top on my passenger side this way.

Nice head D Prince. What's that all about then?
Lawrence Slater

Malcolm, not for a 1500!
I've spoken to BMH and they don't make them as there's no demand.
You can fit one for an earlier model but then you have a big 'ole which shouldn't be there and makes fitting of all the bits and pieces a bit more challenging.

Laurence,
It's a Vauxhall C20XE engine. check his car profile.
frogeye Gary

Ah thanks Gary, I didn't think to look there. Looks like a nice fit too.

Had to do the battery tray removal and minor modification of the front cross member to allow room for the oil filter. only issue is the sloped sump on the XE gives only 70mm clearance to the road at it's lowest point so no speed humps!!

All in all not a difficult or expensive conversion! Cost about £1000 total (had already done the 5 speed gearbox on the 1500 engine)£300 for a cavalier for the engine, £100 for the R1 carbs, £100 for the megajolt, £30 for the Ford EDIS, coilpack & Crank sensor, made my own inlet on a lasercut flange, exhaust was a C20xe race manifold cut into many pieces and rewelded together £20 from Ebay, £200 for the bellhousing. Concentic clutch from a saab £50, rest in odds and sods.

Seemed easier and cheaper and than the K route for 150bhp in standard form with plenty of tuning options for both N/A route or turbo if I really want to scare myself!

Here's a clearer pic I found of the footwell.
