MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Which Spark Plugs
Hi 1380 engine , uprated head , larger valves , uprated cam , 10.5 CR , need some advice on plugs which ones to use ? Weekend car so not used every day , any one got any suggestions and where to get from ? cheers Andy |

NGK BP7ES would be a good starting point. Should be available from most motor factors, I would have thought. |

I have a similar engine spec on my Sebring. Ditto Dave's advice. |

Andy, this chart will help explain Dave's suggestion - http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinfo/spark_plugs/partnumberkey.pdf |

Use the coldest you an get away with on an uprated engine - I have NGK BP8ES using uprated head. Buy from any motor factors - they are very common. Try Iridium/platinum for longer life - naturally more £££. |

I take Mark's approach too - coldest you can get away with. The only downside of a cold plug is it will foul, whereas a plug which nis too hot can damage the engine. Start with BP8ES an if it doesn't foul that's fine. If it does then it's BP7ES. It would be surprising if it's not one or the other. |

1380, 10.4:1 CR, 12G940 'big valve' head, Piper BP270 cam, etc. Started with NGK BP7ES and had No.1 burn out, but the cause was something else. Fitted BP8ES as a precaution and had no problems since. |
