MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wiring around front valance area

Hey folks,

Can anyone help me out by reminding me how the wiring is routed around the front valance area on a 1500? Where is it clipped on? Which hole does it pass through on each side?

Cheers,
Malc.

Hi Malc,

If only you'd posted that this morning! Just had the grille out of mine to replace the bonnet release cable, I could have taken a cpl of pics.

Just had a quick look tho. The main harness comes down the n/s inner wing and passes thro a biggish grommet adjacent to the heater intake pipe. The n/s lighting connects just before the loom passes thro the grommet. Both lighting looms are retained by metal p-clips fastened by nuts and bolts thro the wing drain channels.

It's then clipped by 3 push on spring clips to the front of the bonnet locl slam panel where the 4 s/t screws holding the grille on fit.

Two cables drop down to the horns either side and the rest are connected to the o/s lighting close to the rad overflow tank.

If you need pics, just ask.

Regards Steve.

Hello malc

Yes its very simple... just drill some self taper holes into the valance... if a fire breaks out, problem solved! And a new one begins

Haha

Im not far from the truth, its just something that will happen, so be prepared and take percaution to avoid

Did i ever mention the time I drilled 3 screws into my battry by way of drilling the tapers from inside the car onto and THUR the fire wall...yes that was a lovely day

Thanks Steve, only fitting the valance this morning, so it was only then that I realised I wasn't sure where everything clipped on.

Thought I would see if the headlamps would work too. I think I like the frogeye look :-D

I like it just like that Malc. Who needs a valance and wings anyway? ;).

You might dazzle a few pilots, though!

Hello malc

With my rad being over sized and covering the oil gromet hose holes I used the trunk hole to run my oil hoses thur, and I redirected my wiring into the wing wells and pulled them thur at the front of the wings and the inner body section... everything is out of the way and hidden
