MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wiring coming through radiator duct panels

I have tonight fitted the removable panels and brackets each side of the radiator, having puzzled about them for weeks and suddenly getting a Damascus moment this evening.

Now I can guess which is the route for the oil cooler pipes, but the hole for the wiring for the rear panel seems to be oddly close to the lower bonnet prop bracket. As the bracket for the boot prop is in the wrong place (too far forward by about an inch) I am wondering if the front one is also out of position. As it creently is, the wiring would be directly sandwiched between the bracket and the inner wing, and the wiring will be abraded each time the prop is inserted into its hole.
What is the correct routing here?

a photo might help

what oil cooler, for Switzerland would an after market oil cooler be necessary or appropriate
Nigel Atkins

'what oil cooler' I do wonder sometimes. Nigel read the handbook. Page 52 in mine.
Anyway, here's a pic of the wiring and the bonnet prop bracket. It IS close, although not touching, but I do believe this '73 car has also had new wings fitted at some stage. Note the earth lead point to the right of the pic.

Wow....you guys get rust also....hahaha

You made mention that its not the correct location for the prop

If your not concerned about orginality, id redrill a new hole lower down of refeed the wire in the wing gap a couple inches higher in your photo

Looks like the trick is to mount the cable in a clamp to pull down below the bonnet bracket, thanks
Dominic Clancy

from all I've read oil coolers were an option extra except for Aus cars, I've only ever seen Switzerland on the telly but it never seems as hot as Aus

Dave,
page 52 is usually about servicing, I know that without looking :)
Nigel Atkins

no, it's about tuning and optional extras.
David Smith

I had the cable running along the tob of the inner wing, moving it down has solved the problem, thanks.

Dominic Clancy

David,
it may be in yours but not mine

that was my point, optional oil cooler on a car in Switzerland (on standard road going car or even mildly tuned)

I must congratulate you on actually looking at the good book and referencing the page number :)
Nigel Atkins

Found this pic of when I stripped mine 10 years ago.

don't have a pic with the wing in place for some reason but here's one showing the position of theoil cooler pipes and wiring running through the splash panel..
