MG MG Y Type - Alternative YA brake master cylinder
Has anyone fitted the alternative YA brake master cylinder available from NTG? It's the one with a remote fluid tank which fixes to the bulkhead. |

Peter If you have an original C&C still do the best job in the world refurbishing them. I send them ones from the USA and have full confidence when they come back here and refitting them to customers' cars here. See our LINKS page for details. Paul |

Peter, I second Paul's comments, and had two done, one fitted to my YT and one refurbished as spare. Both were done to high standard in my opinion as satisfied customer. Richard |

If you don't have an original "master cylinder" to send away, I have a spare I will sell to you. Postage from Australia is the only problem. Cheers Tony |

Just had a look at it. NTG suggests that with the more common smaller battery these days the reservoir can be fitted inside the battery box. Checking brake fluid levels is a real pain in Y Types and should be done regularly. Picture from NTGs new easy to find parts list below. Probably means that you would be able to bleed the brakes the modern way as well.

Thanks all for your feedback. A pity that the YB cylinder can't be bolted in place to make life easier and cheaper. |
