MG MG Y Type - Autumn Run 2011 Book now!

The MG Y Type Autumn Run September 11th 2011

The MG Y Type Autumn Run is only 5 weeks away now and the response so far has been a tad disappointing. The route is a good scenic one, I've found back roads and leafy lanes in Bedfordshire that even I have never been down before and both the start and finish venues are very interesting.
The start at Stondon Motor Museum is less than 40 miles from the centre of London, so it's not far for a lot of Southerners to travel. We'd like to see Y Typers who haven't been on a run yet or haven't been for ages, plus of course all the usual suspects.

So book now and tell all your MG friends or you'll leave me feeling all depressed and unwanted.

Come on you UK Y owners - this is another great run. I know gas is expensive over there but Peter has put a lot of time and effort in (as does Jerry) to organizing uniquely interesting and scenic runs for you guys and you are very lucky to have such dedicated people doing this for you.

Go enjoy yourselves as gas is only going to be more expensive the week after so you might as well burn it while you can!

Peter,
Unfortunately, your Autumn Y Run clashes with the Beaulieu International Autojumble, so there may be some Y owners like me, who will be in Hampshire for the weekend. It's pity that I can't attend, as it's on my doorstep, but for those who are able to participate, there will be some great scenery and good runs to enjoy.
Please support Peter if you can and good luck with the run.

Peter,
Unfortunately, your Autumn Y Run clashes with the Abingdon Museum Fund Run, which is a slighty shorter journey and I suspect being joint event with the MGOC too, may have a few Y Types already booked up.

Hi Peter

It's always a problem when ever one tries to organise an event. I ama aware that our Spring Run often clashes with the Regency Run and that we do loose a few to that.

Jo and I will be there and look forward arriving on time this year (really!) I'll complete an entry form and send it to you.

It is mentioned in the Safety Fast Notes for A
August

All the best

Jerry

If you have an "In Spirit" class, YB0944 will definitely be there! Larry, in Georgia
Larry Brown

Thanks for the support and I do know there are some other tempting events on at the same time.
I have entered you in the 'In Spirit' class Larry and if you are the only entry, you may well win a prize.

Peter

Well if that is the cas, me too then please as I would love to be with you - way better than Abingdon Museum Fund raiser or Regency run as this would be just Ys.

You may have to take your "in Spirit" entries and take the pictures from Ys on Parade and have people judge them - LOL!

In all seriousness, I hope that you do get a good turn out - remember quality is always better than quantity - and that every Y owner who does come has a really great, safe and enjoyable time.

The German Y-Sommertreff was well visited in July with a record(?) of nine entries!

We had a wonderfull time there and enough opportunity to look at all the cars and talk at length with all the owners. It's like Paul says; quality is always better than quantity.
Willem vd Veer

That said Willem, Y people are Quality people in any Quantity - large or small!

Lets hope they have a great time.

I have decided that we are going to have an 'In Spirit' class for the Autumn Run. We will have pictures of Spirit Cars travelling with us and a winner will be voted for at the end. Paul, which car do you want to enter, the YT or the Y? Larry, is YB0944 on the road yet? The rules say that cars must be roadworthy you know.
Other entries are welcomed.
I like the comments The numbers for the real thing are coming up nicely now but there's still time for more.
You'll notice elsewhere in the bulletin that we've got one entry already for 2013, so it's never too early to book either!
P S Sharp

Peter, I would love to attend the autumn run, but unfortunately the start is well over 200 miles from home, so, can Y4002 be entered in the Spirit class please?
Regards
David
Grrrrr the picture I tried to upload is too big! so, can I email direct?

The MG Museum Renovation Fund Run on the 11th September has been cancelled

I would therefore suggest that if you had planned to do the Abingdon Run, Peter should still be able to find a place for you on the Autumn Run.

Regards.
David Pelham

David,

Noted, shows relation to the other thread entitled "where are all the Y's" owner eiher feeling the pinch or reducing their choices. May now consider the Autumn run, but distance puts me off little, we will see.

Richard
R E Knight

Please accept my entry for the in spirit class.

In September we will be having a new bathroom installed. Home renovations are always a strain on the wallet and marriage, so any talk of going to Britain for car related fun is off-limits... ;-)

Willem vd Veer

At this rate we'll have more In Spirit entries than real ones. Who'd have thought it, a Virtual Run!
David J., I'll take Y4002's picture from Ys on Parade.
Thanks to David Pelham for the news about the Abingdon event's cancellation, there is still plenty of time to enter. You could even turn up on the day if you want, call me first though please.
Richard, even the Hampshire coast is only just 100 miles from the Autumn Run start, you know you can make it.
