MG MG Y Type - Boot hinges.
Just a heads up: a company here in Queensland has just seven pairs left of their (in my opinion) high quality stainless steel YA/YB boot hinges. The company, Vintage and Classic Reproductions, is ceasing production, the owner/operators retiring. I've just received my hinges, and the attached photo really doesn't do them justice. They are an exact copy, all lines and angles correct. At Aus$450 the pair, they are only slightly more expensive than the chromed items offered elsewhere. In case any more Y owners are interested, I'm advised that orders will be dealt with on a "first in, first served" basis. Rosemary at VCR can be contacted for product specs etc on <VintageReproductions@bigpond.com>. Their website is <www.VintageandClassicReproductions.com>.
I have no financial or other interest in the company or its products - just a satisfied customer happy to spread the word about a good product. Thanks all. John. ![]() |

Yes indeed John - they are very good ones! We have been a proud sponsor of a link to VCR on our links page since very early on in the website's history! I would say to anyone in the middle of a restoration to grab a pair while they can! |

It is sad to hear that the company owner has been unable to find a buyer for the business to enable his retirement. The quality of the products, and the willingness to make almost anything, was a refreshing change - now lost. Cheers Tony |

A direct link to their page is https://vintageandclassicreproductions.com/product_brands/1947-1952-model-y-type/ Can someone update me when they have sold the last pair please? Thank you Paul |

Paul I have been in contact with them to purchase a set and was advised that a business in Victoria (Aust) was also enquiring about a set, plus someone had earlier enquired about purchasing their complete stock of these MG Y hinges. My hinges are held onto the body with set screws and nuts. Doesn't look good. cheers Stuart |

You will not regret your decision Stuart. However be careful fitting them as they are handed!! |

I secured my set and boot catch, this is my third set since earlier purchases. They are absolutely beautiful so I couldn’t let it pass, can’t be many left now. A great finish to the rear.I couldn’t let the opportunity pass. They will be there till eternity. Be quick. ![]() |

Yes indeed Lee it probably is the last of their inventory. In order to preserve them I know someone else (not me) bought the balance of their inventory. The International MG Y Type Register though has made an offer of first refusal, if they do not find a buyer for the entire business, on the forms/moulds for the hinges and Y Type boot latches so that we can continue to supply these if necessary. Regards Paul |

That's a great idea Paul - well done. John. |
