MG MG Y Type - bumpers
Does anyone please know the lenghts of Y / YT bumpers? are he front and rear bumper equally long, or do they differ in lenght? I hav seen both versions on different Ys.
Measured across, like a bow's string, on my car, I read 53 inches / 1350mm respectively.
Greetings from Switzerland
I can measure this for you in the morning - well later this morning as it is 2am here.
They are the same as MG TD ones though in length and are the same length front and rear. The subtle difference between a Y bumper (Y/YT/YB) and a TD is that on a TD the top and bottom lip of the TD C was the same short profile, the Y bumper on the other hand has a longer top edge overhang with a shorter under side.
The bumper irons on a Y though are different to YT/YB because of the use of the over-riders.
I can confirm for you 53 inches or 0.0013462 of a Kilometer (aka 1346mm)
When do you ever sleep? Thank you, for confirming the length. Regarding the likeness of T bumpers to Y bumpers, I also thought, the differences were subtle and bought a set of front and rear bumpers from Moss.
However, the profile is bigger, to such an exend that the YT's overriders would not fit onto them, because their cut-outs are to small. In addition the rear bumper is more than two inches longer (1410mm). So, I am trying to salvage my original bumpers ....
The answer is "Inbetween, when I close my eyes!"
Hey who cares - Y Types are addictive right?
