MG MG Y Type - Carb/manifold gasket/spacer
My YA is missing the carb/manifold spacer/gasket which is causing fuel evaporation problems. Could anyone tell me where I can purchase this? Many thanks in antipidation |

I found a thick spacer from an old Mini and cut it in half with a metalsaw (hacksaw?) to make it thinner. I gather that any Mini specialist can supply one? ![]() |

Many thanks Willem. |

Burlen sell them https://burlen.co.uk The spacer is needed to allow a heat shield to clear the manifold and should be kept to a minimum thickness as the further away the carbs are the more likely the vaporisation is to break down. Tip I got from Ed Biddle Carb expert. Peter |

We recommend MG Midget / Austin Healey Sprite for the phlonic spacer |

Many thanks for all advice. I obtained necessary parts from Southern Carburettors. Great to deal with and delivered next day. |

Peter What does "....the more likely the vaporisation is to break down" actually mean? Thank you Anton, Y/T 4220 |

I am only passing on what I was told by the expert but my understanding is that petrol doesn't combust and petrol vapour does. I guess if you moved the carbs far enough away the engine would stop firing. Peter |
