MG MG Y Type - Chassis weight
Does anybody know the weight of a bare chassis? I need to get a quote for shipping costs. Thanks. |

I have helped carry a few over the years - very much a 2 person job, but never weighed one. If I has to guess I would suggest 80-90kg at the most. Best to strap it to a pallet for transport/handling, or it will get knocked about - I have spent some time in transport depots and they rarely have time to be gentle. Good Luck Tony |

Thanks Tony. Someone should have told me it was a 2 person job before my last restoration as I carried in and out the garage on my own, so I'm guessing closer to 80kg. |

Yeah, about 25 years ago I did pick one up on my own - took a few days for my spine to recover. Now I work smarter, not harder. I do have a spare slave chassis on shop wheels, but it is away being used at the moment so unavailable to weigh. So, are you building another special ?. Cheers Tony |

I have access to a bare bones chassis but as for weighing, no scales. I was never able or tried to lift single handedly, guessing 100 kilos. |

CR What about using bathroom scales? they go over 100kg. Position them under a piece of wood in centre of chassis. Please take photo and post it for all of us to view. Once we know the weight, I am sure Paul would be happy to include that info on the IMGYTR website. cheers Stuart |
