MG MG Y Type - Choke Cable for YT
In order to fit a Shorrock blower to my YT, I had to re-route the choke cable. It would make my life much easier if I could find a choke cable that uses one solid wire only, instead of a cable with a couple of twisted strands. Any idea where to buy a thing like that, please - preferable with the correct knob to match the YT dash (or a TC / TD one). Cheers Anton, YT 4220 |

Speedograph Richfield will make up a cable to your specification. http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/index.html |

I found it necessary to omit the s from https. For the choke cable, would it be possible to remove the flexible cable (with heat ?), and then weld, braze or (silver) solder in a length of thin welding or brazing rod. |

Gentleman I've checked two"original" Y/T choke cables and they where both outfitted with solid wires instead of the now available after market twisted strand versions! cheers Anton |

I have made a few choke cables over the years. Hobby shops can supply the correct gauge spring steel wire that is easily soldered to the YT knob. New cable outers are in plentiful supply at bicycle shops. The choke return springs on YT's are not strong enough, so you need a stiff steel wire to return the choke levers. |
