MG MG Y Type - Clutch Pedal
Dear all, the clutch pedal, on the YT, engages near the top of the stroke. If I remember correctly, that's a sign of near term replacement. If so, is it a big deal? Thanks, Tom |

Tom First check all the measurement settings for the cable as given in the manual in relation to the free movement at the pedal end. You may be able to give it a new lease of life. Peter |

Thanks Peter for the advice, I will check it out. As an aside, is there a source for the maintenance manual for the "Y" types? I am working with a very dog eared copy of a copy. Pretty fuzzy and the pictures almost look like negatives. Be well, Tom |

Hi Thomas Have you not bought a CD from YZ Publications with all the Y/YT manuals yet? Nice thing there is you can print off the pages you need and then throw them away when you have worked on them! Basically yes you are correct you are nearing the end of life ... of the current adjustment settings. Replacement of the clutch though can be done without removing the engine - you just take the seats, carpet, tunnel out and then pull the gearbox out through the inside of the car with the help of a friend (they are not terribly heavy just big). Even this is covered in the shop manual though!! At $25 the CDs are good value. Paul |
