MG MG Y Type - Creme and Crackers

The body on YB0944 is off the car, bead blasted, and in primer. Some body work yet to do, but progress, none the less. Thinking of going with the creme and crackers (brown and tan) color theme. I know it is not correct, but the car was the ugly (to me) maroon.
We were at a local truck stop when a Model A Ford showed up in the color, and was stunning. Any thoughts, anyone have the paint codes, single stage enamel? Thanks. Larry

I am sure I have seen a Y in this colour scheme but can't really whose car it was. ..looked nice though!

Michael Nicholson used to own one. Look at this page: http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/newsupdates/ripon07.shtml

In some Google searches on 'cream cracker paint codes', this came up (in random order):

- County Cream and Service Brown

- ICI County Cream (P42-0057)

- Country Cream is the newer name for the original cream or ivory MG used for the T series, BMC code YL6

- The earlier Ivory had a BMC code of YL5 often called Sequoia or Cream.

- Country Cream is similar to Ivory but is a little dirtier (sorry trade talk)than the Pre War Ivory.

- For powder coating you will need an "RAL" number - either RAL 1013, 1014, 1015 or 9001 or BS00E55, BS08B15

- Ditzler 23002 = Ford Beige WT3053 = Dupont 7198
- Ditzler 23010 = Ford Brown WT3144 = Dupont 7644

Thanks. Big help.

Larry,
If you want to see examples of Ys in cream and brown, look at Y's On Parade, as there are nine (I think), including Y7207 which I owned.
I don't expect you would be excommunicated if you pick the nearest colours that take your fancy.
Incidentally, have you tried "cream cracker MG pictures" in Google. Brings up lots of the original T Types.

best wishes
Michael

My YT is in this colour and does stand out. Unfortunately I do not know the colour codes as the car was restored in Australia before being re-imported to the UK. You can see a picture in Y's on parade as well as in the News section 26th September 2013.

All the best

What a glorious day spent at Houghall College grounds, Co. Durham yesterday. About 250 MG and other classics gathered at the College open day and there were three well presented YA/Bs.
One splendid C&Cream from Wynyard, a Green & silver from Hartlepool and my Joy, Y6686 red from Shildon. Not sure if I can upload more than 1pic for you interest. Will try, but may not be allowed/possible.

And finally image three.
It's good to see Y saloons are well seen in the North of England.

Thanks for the responses. Beautiful cars all, but I still like the creme and crackers. Larry
