MG MG Y Type - Floor Boards- pattern

I also now require floor boards for Y6103. I have seen uder the Technical Centre there was a pattern for floor boards but maybe this has just not quite made it yet.
If anyone has patterns for the floorboards I would be most grateful for a lead or a heads up .
The drivers one I have is reasonable because it seems to have had much oil spilt on it but the others have had the worm and are almost powder .
This car has been in respite for more than 30 years but is getting ready for a big comeback.

I will measure my old chipboard Lefthand floorboards this morning and email a diagram to you, tonight.

Are the YA and YB floors the same?
If so, I lent some detailed paper patterns, from my YB, to somebody via this forum a few years ago and never got them back.
Perhaps they are still out there somewhere?

I believe all 3 Ys floorboards are the same. But it needs to be confirmed by Paul etc.

Clive, if you have the R/H one why not just turn it over and make a template from it, remembering you do not need any notches / holes in the L/H front board.

I couldn't find my YT's old floorboards in my workshed, but found a front L/H template made from 3mm MBF and my R/H first ply try (before I decided to work with templates).

I suggest you make rough templates first out of cheap MBF, coreflut etc and make notations on them as to where to add or reduce the size, before cutting up your Marine Ply.

Once you have the template or ply the right size, then get under the car and mark / drill through from below where the bolts go. As I haven't put a large chamfer on the joining edges, I have added extra bolts near the join on the outer rails.

Remember LTBY's Apprenix 3 has notes and diagram of the floorboards and various fixtures, but no measurements.

I attached 1mm thick rubber (in lieu of felt) strips to the inner and outer rail before bolting the floorboards down. Along the front edge I used thicker rubber.

Thanks Keith, but perhaps we can prick the conscience of that unknown person and they send on the plans to me, then to you !

Stuart , thank you for your offer and suggestions in attending to the boards. Yes the diagrams aren’t much use without the measurements. . I will wait for your measurements and the thin MDF seems like the go . Thick rubber brilliant .
I have the LTBY , but yes no measures .
I can get marine pltpy at Bunnings- what thickness did you use and did you seal them with ( Oil? )

Thanks Clive 🙏

An email with my rough drawing and measurements has been sent.

I tried waterprooofing my floorboards, but after a week it hadn't dried, so I removed what I could and just applied an undercoat/primer then blackboard paint.

I used 9mm ply (an error), but I would suggest 12mm ply to give more strength to front seat anchors. If you don't have the original under floor seat anchors, I would suggest getting larger ones made. (I went with 100mm sq)

Cheers

Do not use regular ply wood. Only use MARINE ply wood. It is a) harder to get hold of, and b) more expensive but above all ... c) the only way to go. Still coat the underside though just because you can :) not because you need to!

When I did my restoration I painted the floor boards completely top, bottom and sides with a marine paint Interlux brightside polyurethane. Has worked out well and made for a wet environment.
