MG MG Y Type - Front Number Plate YB

The MG Series YB Service Parts Manual, AKD832, quotes two parts associated with the above:
front number plate, p/n ACH5835; and
Bracket, front number plate (2 ea), p/n 84225.
Can anyone confirm that these are the same as the T131 brackets from NTG and the 806-390 support front number plate, UK style from MOSS?
Can anyone supply a photo of the original front number plate mounting system installed on a YB?

Hi Rocky,
Brackets are right but not the support panel, the correct one is flat with the edge turned back. the no plate is held on with three bolts about halfway down spread across the plate if you need details of size and positioning let me know.

Thanks, John!
It appears the brackets are bolted directly to the curved lower portion of the chromium plated bumper face bar. If so, I will have to bend the brackets I have about 45 degrees to produce a vertical leg for the backing plate to affix to.
The backing plate in your photo is the same as one I already have among my "spares." Hurray, I don't have to spend even more $$$ on the restoration!

Rocky,
A word of caution over your 45 deg angle bend i have a feeling the proper brackets are shaped like they are, to stiffen them up to stop the no plate and the carrier from vibration. If they do vibrate it could cause the brackets to crack and then break.

When fitting the Z bracket make sure you are fitting it the right way up and the right way around too.

Paul,
I think Rockys just thinking of using a right angle bracket which wont really do the job John yb 0362

John & Paul,
Thanks for the advice.
I have tried turning the brackets every which way and can not produce an alignment resulting in a vertical leg to mount the backing plate.
I intend to heat the brackets and carefully bend them to give the correct alignment. I'll then anneal them to ensure their strength.
In any case, not to worry. YB0952 has traveled zero miles in the last 32 years. The brackets will not fail from vibration in my lifetime!
The end is in site - only installation of the door seals and headlining prevent completion.

Best of luck with the head lining, most difficult job on the car. You will need Jack Murray's booklet from the MGCC Y reg shop.
