MG MG Y Type - Horn relay
Our 1950 MGYA has been fitted with twin windtone hor-ns, but there's no relay in place. Would someone be able to tell me which Lucas relay is required please |

The relay on my 1952 YB is marked LUCAS Made in England SB40-1. I believe it is the original, but in any case it functions just fine. Rocky |

Andrew, I removed the relay from the firewall and discovered the following additional numbers from the underside: 331162 10 52 Some were rather faint, hope I read them correctly. I believe the 10 52 indicates the date of manufacture: October 1952. Hope this helps you locate a relay for your car. Rocky |

Thanks Rocky, job's a good 'un. Best wishes, Andy |

I cannot seem to find a Lucas SB40 relay for the twin windtones for much less than £90. I wonder of anyone might know whether a close or open relay is required, and then any old relay might do. |

More Modern horn relay would work just fine. Try the type found in the Z-Series Magnettes. Most parts shops have them still. ... CR |

Andrew Look on https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/searchebay.shtml - there are 2 on there for less than $30US. Paul |

Can somebody please tell me where the horn relay is supposed to be mounted onto the car? |
