MG MG Y Type - How to upload a photo

I have been trying to upload a photo, which I have done in the past, but it is telling me the file is too large. I assume this is because my new phone has a 13mp camera, but is there a way of reducing the size of the file to enable me to upload a photo.
Please bear in mind with any answer that you are dealing with a dinosaur as regards computers,

There are many programs that will allow you to reduce the size of your pictures.
Are you running Windows?
What version?
If you have "Photo Gallery" that will work.
We need just a bit more information.

If you do not know the above answers, and you are running windows, right click on the photo.
A menu will open.
Click on "Open With"
You will get a list of programs suitable for opening the picture.

Do You have "Paint"?
What else?

Hi Jim, thank you for your reply. I am on Windows 10 and can open with Paint, Photos or Windows Photo Viewer. It opens with all three, but how do I then upload the photo onto a thread? Sorry to be so dense, but as stated am a dinosaur,

John

No problem.

Open with paint.
On the top left is a pull down menu.
On my version, just below "Clipboard"
Click on properties.
A new window will open.
Near the bottom you will see two boxes that give the picture size in "Pixels"
edit these so the larger number is 900 and the smaller is 625.
Click "OK"
Back to the top left pull down.
Click on "Save As"
You will have some choices.
Choose "JEPG"
A box will open.
DO NOT CLICK SAVE YET.
CHANGE THE NAME OF THE PICTURE FIRST.
I add -900 or -small to the existing name.
Now click save.
You will have two copies of the picture. A very large original one and the smaller one.
This will reduce the size of your picture to a size the BB can accept.

Now you can upload the smaller one to the BB.

Any issues just let me know.

Thanks Jim, I think that might be "words of one syllable" even for me. I will let you know how I get on,

Many thanks again Jim - I actually did it !!!

With humble apologies to Jim Benjamin, the answers of how to upload a photo sound like fluent gobble-de-gook, I still haven't have a clue. Sometimes it's best to accept that some of us were not born with the knowledge nor the ability of techno-speak. It's why I rarely post anything.

R.
The size of the photo this BB will accept is limited.
Normally your camera will take a picture which is much larger.
i.e. its resolution is more than what is needed or can be used by the casual user.

In order to conserve space on the BB it is necessary to reduce the picture size.
Your computer can do this with a bit of work.
That is what my instructions were about.

If your picture is already suitable, posting is quite easy.

R Taylor, please, stick with it and it eventually makes sense. Even a dinosaur like me managed it in the end
