MG MG Y Type - Integrated stop & turn signal bar for rear window
I just bought a very nice 1951 Y Saloon which has only its original "D" tail lights. In the interest of originality AND safety, I found a very useful light bar that can be fixed (albeit not permanently) in the rear window. It combines a red "third brake light" flanked by two amber turn signals. Certainly looks the business Gilles. I have asked the seller to send me more photos and also to give dimensions though as I am worried that it may be too big for the relatively very small rear deck behind the back seat, especially given the overall small rear window and if you have a rear anti-dazzle roller blind fitted. When I get these I will post here again to let folks know if this will fit, so as they say "watch this space folks!". Paul |

Yes, I expect it would not mount directly on the rear deck. Slight modifications on the light unit will be necessary. A minor inconvenience when considering the difficulty in finding such a practical little gadget at such a low price. |

I found another one, much thinner and brighter: http://www.jandlenterprise.com/products/products.htm |

I think this is probably a much better option to be honest Gilles - much less obtrusive in the rear window. I will buy one and give a report on it. Paul |

Gilles, Paul, nice find, the LED-one. It's even in a pos.earth version! I think you would also need to order the brackets because of the slanted rear window. I'm making up my own LED version from a rather nasty plastic aftermarket one. I'm trying to fit it in a copper pipe and have noticed that it is very important that the LED's shine straight ahead (to the rear) |

Willem I dont know - I think the Y rear window may be sufficiently straight to go without the brackets. I'll let you know! Paul |
