MG MG Y Type - Is this a YT manifold?

Anyone confirm that this is a YT air cleaner manifold?
Cheers

Yes, looks right. Looks good condition, your car?.

Yes, that type is fitted to the YT, but with a larger aircleaner, like these:

The one's pictured don't have the 24277 on them....

Peter,

Willem is correct, just looked at a photo of my YT and it is deeper than your photo.

Sorry for my error in earlier post

Hi Peter

Yes the manifold is the same MG TD used the YT manifold ... but as Willem mentions, the air fliter is much taller on the YT.

I have a spare correct YT air cleaner if someone needs one.

Thanks guys. No, not my car RE. I've attached a pic of mine. It does have exactly the same manifold as mine as you can see. You can just make out the casting numbers on my car. What I can't seem to get a straight answer to, from anyone overseas is whether or not the manifolds with the number 24277 cast into the top were ever originally fitted to TD's? Based on a meeting I had on the weekend with someone who is far more knowledgable than I, I now believe my manifold came from a YT & is not an original TD item.

Best person to ask that question of that I know is John James at http://ttypes.org. John is one of the nicest people on the planet and is very knowledgeable about T Types and his website is a terrific source of T Types information - the best in the world bar none!

Can't argue with you there Paul. Nice guy & very easy to deal with. I'm a member so you're preaching to the converted. I've just had an article published in the current issue on TD gearboxes that you may be interested in. I'll take your advice & send him an email. Cheers.

Yes Peter, TTT2 (Totally T-Types 2) is a great testimony to John James. Hard to think that he has been doing this independently now for 5 years!! I have been lucky to have been his friend for 14 years or so now and agree totally with his philosophy.

The article Peter is referring to is in the current edition of TTT2 which can be downloaded free at http://ttypes.org/ttt2/. John's website is a great complement to the International MG Y Type site at www.mgytypes.org too and also a good resource for some of the mechanicals on our cars! Well worth visiting his site and registering on there too folks.
