MG MG Y Type - ITS ALIVE!
Well...after 22 years off the road and 20 years in bits I have just got her running again! She started on the second spin of the starter and ran till the fuel ran out. I have rebuilt the engine but all of the ignition parts including the condenser, points, plugs, leads etc are the originals from 22 years ago! Suffice to say that I was amazed and delighted. No body on yet and a Winter of trimming ahead....still, she should be on the road in the Spring (yes 2014) Rob ![]() |

Rob, From a Y wanna-be - congratulations. If your work thus far is any indication of your finished product to come this spring, a magnificent job well done is in order! Be sure a post a photo now and then. Jerry |

Hi Rob - what an inspiration to those of us who are still at the rolling chassis sans engine and gearbox stage! BTW, is that an old Consul Classic in the background? My Dad had one in Addis Ababa in about '62 - it fell apart on the unsealed roads! Keep up the good work mate. John. |

Hi John, Thanks for your comments....you were close with the car in the garage....its the coupe version of the Classic...the Consul Capri...1963. They nearly all fell apart, whatever roads they were used upon! Couple of pics attached. Rob ![]() |

Wow - glorious!Just don't drive it anywhere. I wonder whether the folding roof is a Webasto, fitted by Peter Harvey, or whether it's before his time.Enough highjacking! - enjoy the next phase of the Y. John. |
