MG MG Y Type - Jackall jack height

Hi Guys,
Could any one tell me the distance from the bottom of the Jackall Jack clamp to the bottom of the foot on both the front and back jacks, so I can reposition them in the correct place.

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,

I will measure mine tomorrow for you.....

I bet you get a variety of answers though!

Hi Chris
Mine are 14.5cm front and 11.5cm rear, the rears are determined to a large extent by the bottom bracket.
hope this helps

Best regards

Hi Chris,

Mine are 135mm front and 100mm rear. Bear in mind I have a YA which doesn't have the 'bottom bracket' of the YB.

I am surprised that the difference is this way round as the YA has larger wheels.

Hi Chris, my Ya is 129 mm front and 112 mm rear. As Rob King suggested, you'll get a variety of answers.
Work on an average and I don't think you can go wrong.

Thanks for your measurements guys, I will set mine at 130mm and 115mm and check the distance from the ground once I have fitted my body and engine/gearbox.

Cheers Chris

Chris Pick if you're still there : I'm about to set up the Jackall rams and fit new tubing, and realise that the height of the top union is partly governed by the path of the tubing, and that the height of the ram foot above the ground follows from that. Nevertheless, can you confirm what your final height settings were? - I can't believe it's 10 years since I saw your resto work!
Yours,
John.

John,

Chris Pick sold his Y for another project, so he may not follow the thread ow he no longer has Y Type, I will drop him an email ask if he can assist you by reviewing this thread.

Hi John,
Its good to hear from you , where have the years gone? Richard is correct I sold the YA at the back end of 2016, a new restoration was on the cards . Interesting , my YA is now in New Zealand. Peter who bought my YA sold it to a Peter Crow in New Zealand in 2020 . So now its winning awards over there.
I am sorry I cant help with your enquiry I didn't record the measurements. I hope finish your restoration soon and start enjoying her.
Cheers Chris

Wow Chris, I thought that Y was a keeper! The next restoration must be a good 'un. Are we allowed to know what you're working on? In the end I've gone for Jackall height measurements very similar to yours - it makes the lines look pretty neat, which is a bonus.
Keep in touch mate.

Richard, thanks for giving Chris a heads-up. I appreciate the thought.
John.
