MG MG Y Type - MG ERA DAY BROOKLANDS April 2017

On Sunday 2 April 2017 Brooklands host the MG Era Day, which is seen by many as the start of the MG season.
To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Y Brooklands has kindly agreed to allocate 20 spaces near to the Clubhouse for Y Types.

I have mentioned this before and have so far had 8 owners interested. It would be wonderful to see if we can fill the area offered with Y's.If anyone who hasn't contacted me and is interested then please e-mail me on jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com and when I receive them I will forward tickets on to them.

I have never been before and at least this time will be able to stay with our daughter who hopefully will have successfully podded by then!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks
Jerry

Superb event at Brooklands today. 23 Y's in attendance, in glorious sunshine. Nice to see the Y's out in force.

Thanks for the report and photos Richard. I will post that soon.

23 Y's all together - that's something you're not going to see very often. I wish I lived nearer and could have made it 24,

I am really please that all went well and the weather was excellent.

Jack Murray would have been looking down with a very appreciative smile at all the wonderful Y's present. A very fitting memory to him and an excellent kick start to MG at 70 in the UK and of course echoed at the NEC in Birmingham where a YA.YB and YT flew the flag!

Well done all

Nice photo of the line up from Brooklands site.

Nice effort, roll on summer sunny days

Cracking day and as already noted, excellent weather what a magnificent line up of Y types a real credit to the owner/drivers good to meet up with old friends and make new ones too, that's what being a Y typer is all about. Great to see UHK 111 in the flesh. Didn't realise the banking was so steep the early drivers were real hero's especially when the surface of the track, albeit eroded, is compared to modern roads such as the A25 and parts of the A3, I thought I'd got square wheels at times!

We made a weekend of it visiting a few places en route and covered 633 miles door to door.

Great picture of the line up of Ys at Brooklands MG Era Day last Sunday taken by David Gregory. Spot his SA in the line, his son Russell drove his YA parked next to him. I was caught arriving late in my YT in the foreground.

Well done Neil and Richard for writing up their reports so promptly! They have really captured the spirit of the event. I had never seen so many Y's in one place - it was great to see them and to finally meet so many of their owners!
