MG MG Y Type - MG Y on eBay
There's a nice looking Y on eBay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1950-MG-YB-SPORTS-SALOON-A-RARE-CAR-TAX-EXEMPT_W0QQitemZ200117877080QQihZ010QQcategoryZ29757QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. It is listed as a YB but the date of registration is May 1950. I don't think it's on the register, they just keep turning up don't they? |

Peter, as you correctly assume, this car is not a YB. It's Y 5100 and we have all it's information on the register database. Jack |

Jack, Thanks for the information. I assumed it wasn't registered because it wasn't included in Ys on Parade. This is probably a dumb question, but is the full register available on line, I can't find it on the website. Peter |

Peter- Just to put another spin on this, my YB is UMG-814. Paul |

Peter - and anyone else who is unsure of the situation, The full register is NOT available on the site. This is because of the UK DataProtection Act under which the MG Car Club and its associated CRBs are bound. Participation in Ys on Parade on the website is entirely voluntary by the owner. Sometimes, when a car is sold, the new owner is good enough to update me with new details for the website, and it is updated, sometimes though this does not happen and the old owner will continue to be shown. Registration of your car with the Register, and its entry on Ys on Parade on the website are not interdependent, but are two operations completely seperate from one another. Jack (Registrar) is in the UK, and I am in the US. Not even I have access to the full Register - which may come as a surprise to some of you! Please remember, if you notify any changes and want Ys on Parade to be updated, you will need to indicate accordinly on the Registration form. Jack will then forward only the relevant parts of the entry to me. Hope this clarifies the position. Paul |

Paul, Thanks for clarifying this, I understand now. Dumb question; smart answer. Peter |

Peter The dumbest question is the one you want an answer to but dont ask! It is always good to restate this part of our policy though as many people forget it. Paul |

I love these eBay ads submitted by advertisers with no full stop on their keyboard... reminds me of reading James Joyce... ;-) |

And even more so when they really dont know what they are talking about either! Paul |

Hi, As of the close of auction tonight I'm the proud new of Y5100. As a 1951 model 'MG' myself buying 5100 was the closest I have come to a match. I was going to hold out for a 1951 Y but once the wife had seen this car she said she only wanted a cream one with red trim. What could I do??? I'll post details on Ys on Parade as soon as I take delivery. As a new boy, I'll be back regularly looking for all the help you experts can offer. Murray |

Congratulations Murray, not only on the car but also for an understanding wife; very important that! |
