MG MG Y Type - MGCC Y Register Facebook Page

Neil Cairns has taken to facebook and has been busily uploading lots of interesting pics and comments. Worth a look and comment.

I'm not on Facebook so can't comment on the site.

Surprised the register has embraced shopping carts, social media sites etc, all suggested back in 2010, but vetoed at time by a committee member who recently left.

Good work, all helps spread the word of the Y Types, and backs up your claims to want to engage with younger generation.

You don't have to have your own page to look at it Richard

Peter,

Sorry wasn't clear, I can view the pages without a FB account, but I can't comment or like etc particular photos or posts.

Very nice. Thanks for the page. Would like to be friended.

Is this the replacement for main car club site? All updates appear here and not much activity on the main website which seems to have gone the same way as the old site. Some useful stuff if you want feedback , great to see its alive regularly updated, but some is recycling of articles on the two other sites so I would question value of duplication.

Interesting thoughts!

Neil Cairns is certainly doing a grand job in keeping our facebook page up to date with all sorts of interesting and useful information about Y types. Not everybody studies all the media outlets that cover our cars so it is a good job we have some overlap. If you are not a fan of facebook all Neil’s jottings minus the facebook trimmings can now be found on our website if you follow the links to Technical Information and Neil’s Jottings.

Peter,

I get your point. Twitter must be on the agenda next then? I used to be on Facebook until one of their many security scares and felt it was time to leave. I use it for your page as it is open to all without restriction. My only issue with Facebook on the whole is the majority of people use it to be nosy of other people. Good points of Facebook, being able to keep in touch with distant relatives/friends.

Anyway the page is proving successful now but I recall the vision back in 2010 was being blocked by I recall one or two committee members no longer standing who were against Facebook, shopping carts and most things internet for fear of past user experience. Good to see change in vision.

Now lets see a reduction in Membership subscription fees (No subsidization for racing) and entry for entering events (Spring Run etc) and I'm sure numbers will increase.
