MG MG Y Type - Monte Help: Lights
For the Monte, see earlier post, I will be doing a lot of night driving. It will be important to see and be seen. I want to upgrade my headlights and rear lights - with LEDs for the rear if possible. I changed the head lights on my other YB to sealed units but that did not seem to make much of a difference. Can anyone recommend any particular parts? I also want to use twin spot lights. Can anyone recommend a manufacturer? I want to install some additional rear lights, has anyone fitted extra rear lights? Finally I want to install a high level brake light. Can anyone recommend the relevant unit? Thanks |

Marc In the first instance and certainly about LED D lights - contact lpalmer@roundaboutmanor.com and tell him the International MG Y Type Register put you on to him. Paul |

Marc If you change to led lights they will need to be positive earth as things stand. Led Head lights will greatly reduce the load on your battery so you may not need to fit an alternator, if you do fit one you will have to convert to negative earth so any leds will need to be negative earth, so think ahead. My Led head lights give a brighter white light but have a narrow beam. Rear led clusters make a hell of a difference and are a must. Peter |

Hi Marc You can get LEDs from Stafford Vehicle Components in Tamworth. Jerry |

Hi Marc I disagree with the statement made by Peter V above about the need to change polarity to use LED lights. Certainly the units produced by Lew Palmer are available in positive OR negative ground variants. You must tell him WHICH you require though. Paul |

Found some that can be used with both positive and negative polarity. Hope they make a difference! |
