MG MG Y Type - Mystery Bits
Hi Guys!
I need some help identifying two pieces removed from my YB when I dismantled it 30 years ago! The triangular L & R handed pieces are made of mill board and are covered in Rexine. They are affixed with a single 6X3/4" chrome rcs cross head screw. Where do they belong on the interior? The curved tacking pieces are also handed. They are made from 3ply board 1/8" thick. They were affixed with 6X1" cs slotted screws. I labled them "L&R top front" on removal, but can't determine their exact fitment. Thanks, Rocky ![]() |

I think you will find the triangular bits go either side of the dash board and the wooden strips are covered in rexine and go somewhere along the top of the doors to to cover the cover where the roof lining has been tacked in place. They probably should be longer and go over the back rear windows as they are curved. Or they could be the front end and be over the door. LTBY page 192 195 Peter |

The triangular bits go at the end of the Instrument panel (see Photo 1) Not quite sure on the longer two but I suspect they go at the top of the front door openings. Mine are much longer and go the full width of the door opening What you show looks very much like the front portion of that trim.

Peter and TJ, Thanks for solving the locations of my mystery bits! The photos were most helpful. Rocky |
