MG MG Y Type - Need a copy of a MG YA Brief for Germany
Hi today first MOT for YA 1675 here in Germany I don t get the mot because i had no loudness in idle and running. Perhaps a copy of a German document would be enough to get it. All other parts after total restauration is ok So glad that i have done a good Job but sadness because i can t get a licence for germany |

Hi Franz Your post lost something in translation - what is the problem? Paul |

Hello a German owner immediately understands what I mean and need. After 22 months of hard work on the car, it's not funny that I can't get the registration for this reason. Maybe a copy of a German YA licence will be enough for me. The TÜV man wants to know how loud the car is he wants it for the registration this is Germany ;-) got an answer from W. Prechsl, maybe I found a solution, will post it here. |

Goodness me. Seriously? Has the man actually listened to that throbbing purr? ... even the deafening roar of tha xpag at full throttle would surely not offend any rational test of "fitness to be on the road". I feel for you Franz, but as you have shown in your blog, you will prevail. John |

Brilliant news Franz and sorry we didn't understand your initial question. Take a pair of ear defenders for you and a pair for the examiner - LOL! Best wishes Paul |

Hi Franz. I wonder if your translation of "loudness" is causing the problem for english speakers not understanding you. The sound of the engine at idle strikes us as a strange thing to require a form for, especially one which can be got from other Y Type owners. Is it perhaps a bureaucratic requirement about an independent test or is it a translation site which renders into english a word which means in german "lautstaerke"? Ian |

Franz, I hope your problem with TUV is now solved! Do tell us what happened... Franz, ich hoffe dein Problem mit dem TÜV ist jetzt gelöst! Erzähl uns, was passiert ist... For people outside Germany, the matter concerns a test of the car's emitted noise level (loudness) measured outside the car at idle and at a specified engine speed. The test inspector did not have the necessary specification to hand. In Germany this is not, as in the UK, left to the inspector's judgment! |

it was already quite difficult to contact the TÜV in Bottrop, email SMS, answering machine and I had to wait wait wait.
On Mo evening I got a call that the appointment is not on 07 but on 06 so about 10 clock but only if it is dry. As it had to come it rained this morning, so at 8 o'clock called and talked to the answering machine.... at shortly before 10 then a call from Bottrop. I gave him to understand that I had called yes..... .. Could come by quietly. .. My wife was already gone, so I was alone, Stupidly, my tilt trailer does not automatically fold down when I'm up at the YA-. Handbrake is not quite enough. So bag of mortar put on the front and driven up, submitted all the way to the front and already tilted the trailer, tipping mechanism I then locked. Unfortunately, the bag was now jammed in the front. I wanted to take away beovr I go and lash. I released the handbrake and rolled the car back a little maybe 10 cm, as the devil would have it the trailer tilted very slowly and the car rolled slowly down, the handbrake was fortunately slightly tightened.'This will never happen to me again, grrr , suited the weather and the whole situation. An acquaintance came then but fortunately and helped me, in front I had put a heavy stone. in the 2nd attempt then all good. Towards Bottrop it then began to rain. arrived there dry again, 1 large TÜV hall no one in it. In the office a chilled Mr. xy, could already unload then it would go right away. ok made, It then began to rain again. Car but dry in the hall. 10 minutes later dry again, red number in the car and Mr. xy with wide security shoes behind the wheel, I on the passenger seat, reverse gear purely, poch poch poch under the cardan tunnel. Grr what is that, Fortunately, Mr. xy was quite chilled and said he would take a look at it on stage. It was the grease nipple at the front of the cardan shaft that hit the top. I wonder if something was damaged when the car rolled down. I must look at it in peace. Without further ado, the thing out and on the test track where a colleague was waiting. Then everything went fine he did 4 rounds, 2 x left measure 2x right measure but 7 meters distance and not as then 20 meters etc.. Then still stand measurement both sides.... Then still photo session, engine Auspuss numbers etc. 12 photos ?! then he wrote everything together has certainly taken 30 minutes ... At the end then still pay ;- but now hopefully everything is complete and I can then finally register the car in 1-2 weeks. I hope we have a few nice days before the winter and the autumn storms come. on the way back , about 40 km a lot of rain, but the car is still dry inside so a good test for my work have to clean the car again next days have sent the information to the TÜV man who must make the last paper I hope no new surprises |
