Hello
i make some progress the last two days i took off the seats, the windows and some more posted pictures here: ( Sorry i was there first, i have a TA too ) https://www.mgexp.com/forum/t-series-and-prewar-forum.46/mg-ya-no-1675-from-1948.4022768.4023267/#msg-4023267 now i have to get off the front window and the dashboard you have some notes for me ? also i will take off the mudgards runningboards and floor inside I don t know how to use this forum effectiv, so i ask. the engine and other technical part works perfect, the car was driven in England last month , it had mot, engine was overhaulen some years ago, so perhaps i don t touch the engine bay i will overhaulen all wooden parts, the leather, the floor the dashboard and the paint inside and outside also all wires of the electric i will make the car fit for the next 20 years ( or more) |

Franz Sounds like you need a copy of the Workshop Manual. What Operating System do you have on your computer? If you have a DVD/CD reader then check out our range of DVDs on https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/stores/yzpublications.shtml. Between the Workshop Manual CD and Let there be Ys and this website you will have everything you need I think. Paul |

so i will read before. have done it in the morning but often tips from people have done it is better ;-) ![]() |
FT Franz |
so i read in the book and we get it off
also the dashboard with all instruments wipers and so on i found rust unter the left side rear door, and the left mudgards in the back i think a typical position for the rust ?! so i have to take off more then i hoped yesterday :-( some tips to get off the rusty screws from the running boars and the front wing and so on i have to do it i will do it without information how to do it it will be more difficult it is different to do it on an old car than a new car discribed in the manual i have much time to do it but i want to do it before the winter is coming, so i have time in the winter to make the new metal sheets and so on |

Franz For typical rust areas check out https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/buyersguide.shtml. The rust you are seeing there is probably due to blocked and perished sun roof drain tubes. If you break the bolts off in the running boards you will need to fit more captive nuts to refit the running boards - I believe there is a thread in the Hints and Tips page on that. Paul |

i get the sunroof out was easyer than i thought ;-) some pictures in my blog |

Also the right front wing
what is the weight of the house when all parts out i want to sandblast it before welding ad painting Today totally surprised when I saw the hydraulic jacking system. what kind of oil you take seems to be working. had searched the workshop book for the lifting points for a jack and stumbled over his feet in the process would be awesome if they left. something never seen before, highlight on every meeting https://www.mgexp.com/forum/t-series-and-prewar-forum.46/mg-ya-no-1675-from-1948.4022768.4025706/page-3#msg-4025706 i will desging some knobs with the octagon and the MG Logo for wipers and someswithes, if someone is interested... |

Be aware that there are quite a few differences between YA and YB models. The books you have are for YB. You need to get the CD from Paul for YA. Good Luck Tony The Classic Workshop Black Mountain Australia |

you mean this here MG Y Type Saloons and Tourers the green one ?! my english is not so good, i need pictures to understand it. i have to take the body off someone in the past take gfk and a lot of filler under the wings, i hope to get off the rear wind this afernoon |
FT Franz |
Hi Franz
No Tony is pointing out that two of your manuals there are MG YB and since you have Y 1675 (an early Y) the manuals you need are the Y and YT Manuals CD. The books Let there be Ys and Y Type Saloons and Tourers are great reading for restoration reference books. The great advantage of having any and all of these on CDs is that they are document searchable and you can print off pages to take with you into your shop or garage when you go to do a job and it does not matter if you get oil, dirt and grease over the page as you can throw it away when you are done with it. Hi Frank Welcome to what is a smashing forum for discussion on technical matters for those wise souls who have a passion for the car. Now, I think that I might be in the same boat as you in terms of me being the custodian and restorer of Y5703 for three months now. Perhaps we could compare notes. Kind regards, Andy |
