MG MG Y Type - Non-original fuel tank sender.

Much has been written about re-using the original sender - Mine is fine, and I could; but I'm having a new stainless steel tank made to exactly copy the original, and thus am considering whether to use a compatible modern sender - modern materials, fixings in a current fine thread, easily replaceable, etc. .
I don't see originality or appearance as a problem, and the cost of the new s/steel tank is the same as the cost of sourcing a clean 2nd hand one or of opening up, fixing and coating my original tank. $500 in our money.
So the question is: has anyone here selected a modern or a remanufactured sender and found it to be good? Examples of remanufactured ones that spring to mind: MGA, Mini, Moggie Minor; not sure about the MGB sender.
Or there might be a sender from a completely different breed of car, British or otherwise, that might be perfect for the job.
As I understand it, it should ideally be a coiled windings, float-style sender, with about 100 ohms resistance at full, to give a true indication at the gauge; and of course the correct length of arm (usually adjustable).
Just thought I might be able to save re-inventing the wheel, so "putting it out there"!
All advice gratefully received.
John.

A modern equivalent sender is that used in the MG Magnette. This same sender just needs a slight adjustment to the bend in the arm to mimic the old one that has failed.

Care is normally needed to extract these as the securing screws for the sender flange to tank are usually rusted in solid.

Is there anything wrong with the sender unit NTG offers (order Nr. L442)?

I ordered one a week ago and its on its way to Switzerland.

I just wonder, why you are looking for a modern sender unit.....

No Anton - nothing wrong with that at all. Indeed it is perfectly fine. I think NTG can also supply the correct threaded screws to secure the sender to the tank if asked.

John - if you have not had holes drilled into the tank and the appropriate reinforcing plate to the hole, contact NTG and ask them for the thread of the screws as I am currently on shift and cannot remember what that is. I recall it is it is some esoteric and exotic thread!

Gentlemen

Its a 2BA thread. If NTG would not have any, Namrick in the UK will.

Thanks for your comments.
I agree the NTG item is a good option - the fabricators will have to attach a reinforcing ring on the tank, so it's just a matter of deciding whether to stay with original ba threads, or employ a modern equivalent. I think with the price of the new original-style sender from NTG, it's probably a no-brainer, complete with new ba screws.
Onward and upward!
Yours,
John.
