MG MG Y Type - Pipe clips

Does any one know where I can get the clips that hold brake / jackall / petrol pipes onto the chassis from please? And their part number too?

Thanks

Paul,
Abingdon spares, on your side of the pond, can provide these - I think.

Paul;;
Check Moss Motors # 326-326 chassis clip. It is the one you need.

Gentlemen
Whithout re-checking the Moss-Number Sandy mentioned - I think Moss only carries the "smaller" 3/16 " type of clips. They are made for the TD/YB brake lines only! YAs and YTs use 1/4" Brake lines and if you try to sqeeze them into the smaller TD type ones, they brake because they are made from hardened spring-steel.

Thanks Anton - I was just about to order 20 of them! I will see if I can get to find out Moss's supplier on them and see if he can do bigger ones.

Moss wouldnt play on giving the name of their supplier. Any one any other ideas? I will be trying Abingdon Spares later today too.

Thanks

Paul.
I've just remembered that I got mine from John Lambie, 2 Dante Close, Wembley Downs, Western Australia, 6019.

I recall that he does two sizes of the original sprung steel type at approx £10 for 10 incl. p+p.
Don't seem to have an email address for him so you will have to write or try directory enq. for a number.
If it works out, please post full details here.

Sadly John has nowcompletely sold out. He got them from a place that was closing and has now sold out of his complete stck.

Ah well ... search continues. Watch this space.

Even though, I like to keep cars as original as possible, I wonder if there are no suitable substitutes from any trucks or other mobile equipment. I would not mind to fit some Ferguson clips to the chassis, as long as they fit into the holes and hold the brake pipes or the wiring harness in place.

What is a ferguson clip? I too am happy to go a different route possibly.

Maybe Anton means a clip from an alternative source, like a Ferguson tractor?

It is a tractor brand (farm equipment)

Thought so - I was brought up on a farm and just wanted to check. Now that I cast my mind back, I think I can vaguely recall seeing something similar on our Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson equipment. I have contacted the Massey Collectors (www.masseycollectors.org) and hopefully they will be in touch.

Dear all,
Dear Sandy

Over the weekend I visited a friend who is restoring an MG TD. By chance, I saw a little plastik bag with chassis clips. They raised my interest and I checked the bag.
Chassis Clips 326-326 from Moss - bought on 26/05/05. Of corse, I measured the size and guess what, they where 1/4"! I could not belive my eyes and re-checked with a 1/4" drill - and bingo it did fit.

I can only appoligise, for generating a bit of unnecessary activity. All I can say, that many years ago, when I did a TD up, the clips only held 3/16" pipes.....

Happy rerstoring

I ordered some any way from my Moss Distributor (he is 15% cheaper than Moss's list price) so I will confirm this when they arrive - later this week I hope!

I am delighted to report back that Moss part number 326-326 is perfect for the chassis clips on the Y series. In all you will probably need about 30 for the brake system, the fuel pipe, the Jackall pipe and the wiring which is secured by these clips where it runs under the floor through to the back lights.

The old broken ones usually are easy to remove with a small screwdriver behind them as a lever.

Another problem solved!

Thanks everyone.
