MG MG Y Type - Piping at windscreen frame

In my box of trim pieces I found that piece of piping with a note "R/H edge of windscren frame".
Can somebody please tell me where this has to go? Probably in front or behind the wooden frame pieces?

The piping fits between the horizontal scuttle wooden trim and body flange along the bottom of the windshield opening, then turns and fits vertically between the wooden trim piece and body's A post. It is split where the windshield winding mechanism passes through the body flange, giving identical left and right lengths of piping. See LTBY's lower left photo page 192

A similar piece of brown vinyl piping fits along the front edge of the sliding sunroof, between the panel and fabric headlining. See LYBY's Ch 12 section g

Does anyone have a reference for this piping? I can't see it in the NTG list.

Ian,

You are correct, NTG does not stock this piping. I took a section of the original to a local upholstery shop and they made identical replacements for me. Three lengths made from 54" wide vinyl are enough for the entire car.

The original piping was made from solid-color plain brown rexine vinyl over a 1/8" twisted fabric cord.

I will be happy to send you a section of original if you will supply your shipping address to Paul Barrow. He in turn can confidentially send it to me.

I stand corrected: the original horizontal section of piping was only notched where it passes under the central windshield winding mechanism. I will use separate L and R sections for simplicity when replacing it.

My problem is not the piping itself, we made it already from modern vinyl for the sun roof, but where it has to go exactly at the windscreen? The picture in LtbYs does not show this.
