MG MG Y Type - Re-chrome bonnet retainers

Please advise how feasible is it to have the MG bonnet catches on a YA re-chromed. I have been told they are difficult to dismantle and re-assemble.
If not possible, are new ones available and at what cost.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks Richard, I am embarrassed now, I should have looked harder. But Ouch! at the price, roll on Christmas and Birthday. I do have 2 sets in moderate condition, has anyone had success at re-chroming and did it work out more reasonably, or is it a no go?
RA Barham-Hall

Yes they are next to impossible to disassemble and then when you go to rechrome them I think you will find the holders are pot metal so will disintegrate.

Given the price of chroming NTG's arent that bad.

I have some reasonable condition bonnet latches to spare here in Australia if yours are badly pitted. They are not perfect, but presentable.

Yours for only the cost of postage and a "reasonable" donation to the British Heart Foundation in memory of David Pelham.

The dry climate here is a bit kinder on these "monkey metal castings".

Over to you RA.

Thanks Alan for your reply and offer. Although a fairly new member I can appreciate a little of David's contribution to the MG fraternity and will happily send a donation to the BHF in appreciation of his legacy.
Regarding the bonnet fasteners, I do have 4 that are acceptable as I am not pushing my Y to concourse standard but in a moment of elderly dreaming thought it might be quite nice if the four spares I have could have been re chromed at reasonable cost.
None of them are too bad and I would only replace if doing a nut and bolt restoration, but I am too old to consider that and simply shall enjoy using Y6686 for pleasure and club events.

Kind regards, Bob.
