MG MG Y Type - Rear Bumper Position
Can I ask people to make a couple of measurements to help me. My YB came with a non-standard rear bumper fixing when I got it and I am now trying to return it to original. I have the original "hockey stick" irons but a rear chassis repair has lost the original mounting holes so I need to know how far the front edge of the rear bumper is from the bodywork. It would also help if I knew how far the rear mounting face of the "hockey stick" was from the bodywork. Thanks in anticipation. Ian Thomson. |

Hi again,
the last of the three. It doesn't look like it, but the scale is level with the face of the "hockey stick " bracket. That is,to say, with the rearward face of said bracket. The bracket seems to more or less sit on the floor of the chassis member. But (borrowing a caveat from Tony Slattery) these things are not all the same size. (The body on my YT seems to sit a bit forward, and things like the gear shift base don't line up with the hole in the gear box cover.(Well they didn't initially, so I had to shift the access hole a bit. Enough said.) And, I have assumed the YT is the same as your YB in this regard at least. Let's know if you need more. good luck. KGM ![]() |

Thanks KGM. That's just what I need. Do others agree that the saloon is the same as the tourer? regards Ian |
