MG MG Y Type - Rear window´s blind
How is the rear window´s venetian blind locked? When you pull it up, does it lock by it´s internal lock mechanism or has the driver to lock the cord somehow? |

The cord terminated at the driver's side on the roof and had a cream Bakelite ring in it (called a Control Ring). In the lowered position this ring rested against one of the guide screw loops. The blind is secured in the closed (up) position by the operator looping the Control Ring over a "Control Knob" that was also screwed into the fillet in the roof. This is covered thoroughly in Let there be Ys (which can be obtained from YZ Publications Inc.). Good luck finding an original control ring and control knob. I was able to locate all of these items on a scrap car that was beyond economic repair but I was 8 years in the search! Paul |
