MG MG Y Type - Sun roof rear seal

Having been unavailable for ages to restorers we have a chance of getting the correct rear seal for the Y Type (YA & YB) sun roof.

This is subject to a minimum quantity order, so please can you communicate your interest either directly to me on the email link, or by responding on this thread?

Thanks

I would add it to my extensive list of perishable items needing replacement this year.

Paul,
I'm working on a VA saloon with a sunroof, and have been wondering if ther is supposed to be any sort of sealaront the sliding panel. I suspect that knowing how MG seemed to carry over design elements from one model to another, if the Y types had a seal, then the VA should also. Can anyone confirm this??
When I got the VA, the sunroof was out of the roof, and there was no indication of any sort of a seal, nor was there any gasket or seal around the boot lid. Can't help but think that both areas should have seals or gaskets of some sort.
I wonder, do you suppose that Y-type seals might work on my VA??
Carl

There is a small (narrow and thin) seal at the front to also prevent the front sliding into contact with the body when you close it. There is also a seal in a trough at the back. This is much wider (about 1 inch) and slightly deeper) and comes into contact with the body when you lock the lid up. It is this rearmost seal we are talking about here.

Include me in for this one, Paul: we used a standard section rubber seal when the car was reassembled and it works well enough, but it's always good to have the proper item in place. Incidentally, we mounted the seal on the sunroof panel rather than inside the roof itself: this looked like the best way to avoid corrosion in the folded rear edge of the roof opening - with the sliding roof open or in the forward unlocked position the seal is not in contact with the roof. The car isn't wet very much, but this is one way to keep the whole area dry and free of rust. Seems to be working so far anyway!

I know nothing abot the construction of this or any other sunroof, but it seems possible that other makes used the same system particularly Morris. Would it be worth circulating details to other clubs in case they would share the cost?
