MG MG Y Type - Sun Visor hinge

I was emailed a couple of months ago about obtaining a hinge for the sun visor. Apparently these are the same as MGA Coupe ones - can any one confirm that please and also where these are available?

Barney Gaylord who runs mgaguru.com has another page on this topic http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/coupe/cp107a.htm and has advised by him the following "I think it is still in contention, whether the bracket should be
triangular or rectangular. For a long time I thought it was supposed to be triangular, but a lot of people lean hard on the idea that it
should be rectangular. Service Parts List shows it (vaguely) as rectangular, and so do a few other factory publications."

Your comments are appreciated on this please so we can find a possible source of parts for our cars please.

Neil Wakeman ...of Melbourne ( currently on a tour of Europe incl uk) had a batch of new hinges that I brought back from Aus last year....they are very close to original spec lacking only the hexagonal nut bit...cant recall who I got them for now....but there are a few around both here and back in Melbourne. ..will probably meet up with Neil in May so could ask him.

I have attached two photos....the one shows the original type hinge with the hex end as Dave describes...

The second shows the hinges sourced from Australia....they do not have the hex bit and also the fixings holes where the visor is attached go thru both plates rather than just the top one.

They were brand new and perfect condition. Marked with the Wilmott Breedon logo and 'Birmingham' so same manufacturer and similar period but possibly a later version. They might not suit the 'purest purist'

Apparently there was only a small box of NOS ones found so they may now be gone.

I did have details of the Oz source...I will have a look for it.

This is the pic of the original pattern....

Ive found the details of the Australian supplier and Ive emailed them...unfortunately their small stock has gone.

I had four pairs but sold my spares to a guy with a mk 10 Jaguar as they used the same type.....
