MG MG Y Type - Trafficator and direction ynd hazzard together
Hi
in the moment my car gets the new self made harness wiring the trafficator works again, cleaned and greased the lamp inside has his own wire so the lamp is blinking with the front and back direction lights. Found this here and made with the plan my own solution https://www.dkw-f5.de/werkstatt/licht-blinker-und-winker/winker-blinker-teil-1/ The best i could find after some hours of thinking my own solution in the picture all will come in the battery box so i can look easyly if something is wrong perhaps i will add the 4 way relay later so that i can swith off the trafficators and his light with one switch will etch a layout at the end of next week and will see if it is working as it should also i will ad relays for headlight diplight and horn all swithes on the dashboard has low power so good for security what do you think of my solution you use the trafficators or not ? does anyone know how much power the coil of the trafficator need ? ![]() |

Franz Have you read this article already on this website? This is how I accomplished this issue. https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/hints&tips.shtml#Fitting_Flashing_Turn_Signals_with_Trafficators There is a link to a PDF file on our site for a wiring diagram too that I used. Paul |

like the old diagram, it is not allowed here in Germany.
you must have a warning light, all lamps flashing, this must also work without the ignition switched on! there must also be a red warning light on the dashboard the direction indicator must have a green lamp on the dashboard and must work with the ignition switched on. the indicator light must also flash, so you must have a separate cable for it So the old diagram does not work for me the car is 20cm too long, so I have to have directional lights as well In my diagram it's easy to make another switch to stop the traffic light working, both the coil and the lamp I also need a special relay for the LED so that the flashing time is correct |

Not 100% perfect because some holes are not exactly in the middle
But i made this for the first time Design, etching, making small holes, putting the parts on it .... Hope that it will work as it should Tomorrow some small work and then it will be ready for install also i have to controll for the direction of the diode simply awesome what you can do today with research on the internet I loaded a program for the circuit board layout, then found a circuit that understood, then changed it to my wishes, then exposed, etched, drilled and now I hope that it works too now i have to design a little box with freecad, print it with my 3d printer..... ![]() ![]() |

It was quite difficult to apply the solder evenly to the board. I had to make a bridge at the top left because I had an error in the layout there. I did not tin the switch tracks exctra because no large currents flow here. you don t see the backside when it is installed in the battery box ![]() ![]() |

here some more pictures one 3d picture from the assembly i will fix in the battery box it will be covered with a cover and a mg logo it will be the oringinal like octagon logo, not like the picture only mg ![]() ![]() |

2 screws and i can take off the assembly to check the wires relay circuit for light, dip light, horn, radio trafficator coil left and right and 2 direction light relays over the assembly i will fix a box with classic tools like pliers, hammer, tyre lever and so on we will see ;-) ![]() ![]() |

I have found the problem
two things I know now ;-) but I was really close to throwing everything into the corner I found the first error quite quickly the LED flasher relays are wired a little differently, I looked at a few circuit diagrams and then assigned the pins a little differently, then the hazard warning lights worked properly, when i wanted to turn right the relay buzzed but it also blinked when i wanted to turn left there was a steady light. the coils from the trafficator worked as they should. here, plugged there, plugged again and again it did not work. Then I looked at the circuit diagram again and again, then came a flash of light I had quite different lamps in my experimental setup, I just took what I found out of the box. but since at one point the function is dependent on the same consumption on the left and right side bingo exchanged the lamps and everything actually works as it should. and again one cliff less hope it works when it is installed Chaos on the desk But I have done it also i have printed the case for it in ABS, fits perfect install is easy because you stand near by and don t lay on the floor of the car later i will make a tool tray sitting above the battery box and the relais get a mg cover printedf too so you will not see a lot of it so now i have a optimal legal direction light and hazzard light tool and i can switch off the trafficator the hazzard light switch and the switch for trafficator coil i can use all switches i can buy will take mg classic like switches for control light i will take small led s ![]() |
