MG MG Y Type - Trafficator cave water outlet

While restoring my YA, I came accross the trafficators, which are on the work bench for a winter refurbish job.

When I look into the caves, where the trafficators rest, I can not see any water collection or outlet.

Is that better solved on a YB?
Any recommendations, should I insert some hose, which leads the water down below the sills to the road, like from the sliding roof?

Caves Walter?

Can you post a picture of what you mean?

I think we are "lost in translation" here !.

I understand Walter is talking about the "void" or "cavity" where the trafficators mount.

In Y-types there is no attempt to drain the water out of these areas - it simply makes it's way down the door pillar post & into the body sill where it drains out via the vents at the rear of the sills.

I have seen some british cars where the trafficators rest in a shell that is self draining, but these are typically fitted from the outside, while Y's are fitted from the inside of the car.

;-)
yes, I meant the holes where the trafficators sleep.
Tony understood -- thanks for your answer.

The question is, how much water (especially in GB) comes through this into the sills and breeds rust during one year?

As long as the drain holes are clear in the rear of the sills, it will naturally drain away.

I have a spare door post somewhere, I'll have a look at the bottom & see how big the drain hole in the post is.

It certainly would not hurt to spray some rust preventative inside the door post & sills every few years !.

Ah understood now Walter. The Z Series Magnette trafficators actually live in abox inside the pillar so I wasnt sure.

Yes Tony is correct, the small amount of moisture that will get drawn in is small and of relatively low impact if the drain holes are kept clear.
