MG MG Y Type - water branch pipe

I was overhauling the cooling system on Y5103 and discovered the water branch pipe was badly corroded. Does anyone know of a source other than NTG. It will cost me about fifty quid time i pay postage to OZ.
I am tempted to get one manufactured locally. Has anyone had a go at this? Regards Mel Fry

If you can find an old skool motorcycle exhaust shop, they will make you one. Take your old one, as Y branch pipes are unique.

Agreed - I had one made by a local engineering works for 50 bucks. Went back and had the TD pipe copied too! John.

Mel, my Y/T had/has no water branch pipe, so I borrowed an old one from Tony in the hope that I could get some made of stainless steel, as I considered the cost of getting one from NTG a bit much.
A mate who makes S/S inboard/outboard manifolds for luxury boats here on the Gold Coast has been unable to find anyone who can bend small dia S/S pipe.
When a Y branch pipe is put against the TD branch pipe the difference is apparent in the angle of the bend and the angle the joining pipe attaches. Unfortunately my mate has the Y branch pipe so I cannot take a photo to show differences.
I like the idea of using motorbike exhaust pipe, so after getting back from TYme, I will look into the idea.

No need to run around looking for a fabricator for these. Hans Pederson in Mitcham Victoria has at least half a dozen in stock. His number is 03 98741800.

They are priced at $A50 each. Pipes are coated inside and out with an aluminium/ceramic product for long life protection.

Hans trades under HP Performance Products.

The pipes are an odd line for Hans - his main products are highly engineered performance products (superchargers etc)and I think he made a batch of these MGY water pipes a few years ago as a favour for a customer - they are not a big seller!
