MG MG Y Type - Wiring Diagram for YT

I have found what is supposed to be a wiring diagram for YT in an original YA manual - page N21. Trouble is it shows a petrol warning light and not a gauge, as well as the horn button on the ignition switch - both a la TC. Does anyone know where I can find a proper wiring diagram for YT?

I am going from memory at the moment but the YT wiring diagram in the YA handbook with the YT supplement is an error. It is as I recall a TC diagram. There is a Lucas book that has the correct YT diagrams including that for the YT EXU which is quite different. I don't have the book but I do have some photocopies which may be good enough to be posted on the web site if there is any interest. Terry

There are two wiring diagrams for the YT, included with the LUCAS Quality Equipment, Publication CE469, dated November 1949. The two diagrams are: W76340 MG 1.25 Litre Tourer (home & Right Hand Drive Export) and W76341 MG 1.25 Tourer (left Hand Drive Export).

A photocopy of this document is available from the Y Register Regalia, see website, it also contains details and photographs of all electrical equipment. There is also one for the Y saloon.

It would appear that availabilty of the wiring diagrams, as downloads, from the website is desirable. In true Y Register style …. Watch this space.

Regards.

David.

In the mid 1980s when I rewired my car I had access to a later edition of the Lucas publication. I have a photocopy of diagram W76341 but it is wrong ( useless) for my EXU car. I also have a copy of W76361 dated February 1950 for the USA Export Models (EXU)1949 and a copy of W76362 with the issue date cut off by the photocopier.W76362 is for the USA Export Models 1951-52, a car that was never built, but shows that if it had been the regulator was changed to a 5 post from the 9 post. David Lawrence makes reference to it in his book.
I remember that finding W76361, the correct diagram for my EXU car was a challenge, and when I found it I sent a copy to Dick Knudson who had it printed in the TSO about 1984/5.I think it is a great idea to put the diagrams on the web site where they can be easily found. Terry

Thank you all for yor help. The reason to start this thread was a request from a wiring loom manufacturer who has access to more patterns for Y-types than he has known model variations. Hopefully this will mean we can get what we really need "off the shelf", and not settle for a compromise loom, with some bits that don't work, and others that are missing altogether.

As for the posting of disgrams on the web site - fantastic service and support. Wish you guys and the Net were around ten years ago.
