MG MG Y Type - Wiring Harness Route?

I'm at the point where the new main harness needs to be laid down along the chassis, before the body is reunited with the chassis; I thought I'd seen a plan drawing confirming the route taken - but I'm blowed if I can find it anywhere. Whilst it's not rocket science, I would still like to confirm the "correct" route, if anyone can point me towards a drawing.

I cannot give you extra info as I am currently interstate.

Yes Stuart is correct - see LTBYs for full details of routing. If you are lucky there should be some clips still on the chassis rails and it goes between the brake/clutch box and the chassis rail on RHD cars.

If you don't have a copy of LTBYs (Let There Be Ys) you can purchase the CD copy of the book from Paul by going to the International MG Y Type Register website vendor /for sale page http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/vendors.shtml and look under YZ Publications.

LTBYs is a very informative book on MGY originality.

If your Y is a RHD car the main harness runs along the inside of the RH chassis rail (and is attached with clips which can be purchased from all classic MG parts retailers.

As far as I recall the wires still run the inside of the right hand chassis member, but not behind the pedal/clutch box as this is now welded on the left chassis member.

Thanks for comments - I have LTBY, which is indeed helpful; I also have the original loom to check against, so no worries with what individual wire belongs where. I just thought there might be an overhead mud-map of the wiring loom and sub-loom routing somewhere, but apparently not. Could be a useful job for someone more skilled than me to lay down for newbies to follow?
I also like the front-on drawing someone put in the archives, of the wiring positions and firewall holes for the TD - something similar for Y Types would I suggest be of value also.
Anyway, I'll plug away, and thanks for the help offered. Yours, John.

Re the holes on the firewall - see the Appendix in Let there be Ys. They are all detailed in there.

Eureka! ... I stumbled upon a wonderful summary and diagrams prepared by D.Ransome and dated 1985. I think I might have bought it from the IMGYTR, and forgotten about it! The title is "Rewiring your Y Type and forgotten where your old loom goes?", and includes helpful diagrams of loom to front chassis/firewall, loom to main chassis area, and a layout (plan view) of the full loom. Pretty much just what I was looking for for confirmation, and I hope it's useful to remind others of this document's existence. Thank you to Mr. D.Ransome, wherever you are.

Just to update: my new main loom plus ancillary looms from NTG came well-made, terminals in places where they should be; and so only an hour or so of labelling and it was ready to fit to the chassis. Rookie error alert: I forgot to thread the thinner (rear lights etc) end of the loom from the front - through the master cylinder housing - to the back! Too hard to squeeze all the front branches of loom through the gap between chassis rail and m/c housing. I've kept the original loom, newly labelled, for future reference if anyone needs to borrow/copy it. Regards, John.

Please allow my addition

The summary by D.Ransome is offered by the Y-typ register and helped me also a lot. From experiences with other prewar MG restorations I will add the hint to clip the
running main cable along the chassis (like depicted in Ransome´s 1st page in the middle) not at the bottom of the chassis rail, but at the upper edge, to prevent mud and wetness from being collect and held behind the cable.
To hold the string in place I use this clips -- see photo.
