MG MG Y Type - Y Type exhaust header?

Can anyone confirm if this is a Y type exhaust header? The tag attached to it says it is but I can't find any pictures to verify.

Thanks

Tim

Morning Tom

Looks correct to me from that angle. When you it flat is the exit port (to pipe) angled off to the right a bit? It should be.

Where did it come from/what is its history? What puts you in doubt? Which Y do you have? Feel free to email me off line if you want to.

It is a Y manifold, but with a difference; it is missing the inlet manifold!
Normally the inlet and exhaust manifold is a one-piece casting. This manifold was probably modified to accommodate a TC/TD manifold for twin SU's.

The depression on the centre branche is the "hot spot" that warms the incoming mixture.

Attached is a picture of a Wolseley(?) manifold that I modified. I would never hack into a part with MG on it...

Here's complete manifold.

Paul and Willem thank you. The manifold/header was in a collection of parts I bought from a gentleman who was down sizing. The only reason I thought it was from a Y is that there is a tag attached that describes it as such. The threaded holes on the flange appear to me unmolested. Unlike the three TD manifolds I have. Since it has been modified does it have any value to Y owners?

I cannot think of anyone who needs one at this time Tim.

Thanks Paul.

Anyone wanting to convert it's Y-type to twin SU's would value this part. If only because it's saves another Y-type manifold being molested.
The problem would be the shipping because of it's weight.

You could convert it into a cool wall lamp by fitting a bulbsocket and lamp shade to the exhaust side and bolting this assembly to the wall....?

I'm looking for one of these to convert to twin carbs, unfortunately post will make it prohibitive.
