Looks like Y5095 but its a long way from Kansas to Laredo, at least 1250 miles by my reckoning. There are only 4 in this particular colour scheme(the old MG cream cracker colours) on Y's on parade mine,Y7207 , one in Australia and one in S.Africa. Michael |

Nice LHD example. I was all excited when the price was $1.00, and was looking forward to adding a LHD to the fleet, but it is now reaching more sensible levels and is out of my reach. Paul |

Yes nice car. Does anyone know if it sold? |

I enquired from the seller and it failed to reach their expectations, so the answer is no, it is still unsold. Paul |

Bidding got to $13,113.00 but didn't reach the seller's reserve. Peter |

I watched that auction with interest because that is a restoration I did on that exact car back in 1976. It seems that the paint and interior remains just as I did it -- and the interior is still holding up well. That paint combination was picked by my wife. The car's original color way down deep under the many coats of other stuff we stripped off was a maroon. Also I discovered that the craftsman who made the wooden trim that goes around the windows signed his name on the back of one of front door window panels. I considered bidding on it, but the sellers never bothered to respond to either of my e-mail inquiries during the auction -- and Laredo is 1300+ miles away. That car was a great highway cruiser but the brakes on the YA sure were weak and it could have used better shocks. But everything worked -- including the Hadees heater, the trafficators and the Jackall system. All in all a good car. Too bad it didn't make it to a new home. If someone from this group ultimately ends up buying this car, please feel free to contact me for information on its history, etc. I even have some old, pre-restoration pictures of the car. Oh, and its name is "Wimsey" named after Lord Peter Wimsey of Dorothy Sayer's novels. Regards, Ross Schlabach |

Hi Ross Enjoyed reading your comment on the BBS. The seller is responsive – or at least was to my email – might be worth dropping him another line, and what is 1300 miles between a good car and a man? Hope by now you have discovered http://www.mgytypes.org and are enjoying what we have up there. Hope to see you in a Y soon, Paul |

Hey, 5095 was my Y! I had to sell it in 2004 due to a long stretch of unemployment, and it went to what I remember as a broker in Laredo, so my assumption at the time was that it would end up in Mexico. I've always wondered how she was getting along. Paul Briggs |

Just curiosity, any news on the final disposition of 5095? I certainly don't have that kind of money (still recovering from the unemployment event), but I would like to know where she ends up. Paul Briggs |

Paul Hi. I would suggest maybe that you log onto eBay and maybe ask the seller. As a former owner maybe you will be able to find out more than just Ordinary Joe on it. One certainly hopes that the bids were all genuine ... but you never know these days. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D140223942503%26fvi%3D1&item=140223942503 If you do find out - please email me back or post here. Glad to hear you are recovering from the event - its tough up here in WA too. Paul |
