MG MG Y Type - ya near side stub axle

hello, does anyone know where i can buy a near side front stub axle c/w with the arm which goes to the track rod end, mine has a steering arm from another model which is bent downwards by 2 inches at the ball joint end.thanks graham
Graham Sharpe

I think I have a spare one, but I challenge all British Y-owners to help Graham first, just to keep him out of the clutches of 'bloody foreigners'.

Especially when they are off the notoriously greedy Dutch variety..... ;-)

Hi Graham,
I may have one in my spares shed I will have a look sometime over the weekend and let you know.

Cheers chris

Hi Graham,

I have rooted through my spares this morning and I am sorry to say I have 2 off side stub axles but no near side.

My apologies Chris Pick

I had a look also and think I found the right one. Please have a look at the picture.

Do you only need the steering arm? Or maybe you now see that your right one is right and your left one isn't.

Or if you are picky (...) maybe I should say that you may now see that your near side one is right and your off-side one isn't.

hello Chris and Willem, thanks Chris for taking the time to look through your spares, i do appreciate that.Willem my problem is the steering arm angles down to the track rod end and is 2 inches lower on the left front side wheel,(left hand side when sat in drivers seat). Also my left wheel is in at the top, 2 degrees neg camber. It looks to me that the steering arm and stub axle are from a different model mg. Bottom wishbone bushes have been fitted by myself, i used the mgb v8 type. The left steering arm is shaped downwards and im resonably confident it has not been bent by accident.Any more offers in UK for these parts?willen shipping my be the killer to get your parts over here? thanks you two, graham.
Graham Sharpe

OK, Graham. Just to get it clear for me.

Can you use the parts in the picture?

Do you need the whole assembly of the right front wheel side? As I read your post above I keep thinking that the it is the left side that is faulty? Or should we have 2 degrees neg camber?

There is a small chance that I will meet with friends from London in two weeks time, in the south of France. So MAYBE they could take the parts and post them from London.

p.s. the 'picky comment' was me trying to be funny but I confused you with Chris Pick. I should really read more carefully. ;-)

hello willem, sorry for my delay in getting back to your question, with ref to your photo posted it appears that is for the right"off side". the one i require is for the left "near side". a steering arm complete with the stub axle would be nice as this might just cure the 2 deg neg camber.i am in no rush now as i have made a start on dismantling the car for renovation, thanks graham.
Graham Sharpe

Hello Graham,

So sorry for the confusion. I thought that near side meant nearest to the driver, but now that I looked it up it means nearest to the curb (in GB)....

Good luck finding the left 'near side' parts; I'm pretty sure I only have this off side part.

Hello Graham,

I'm almost certain that I have the bit(s) you need, but I can't get access to my parts store at present - there's a family of swallows in residence at the moment and the parent birds won't let me in!!

I gather from your latest post that you're not in a hurry, so if you can bear with me for a few weeks I'm sure I can help.

Cheers,

Bill.

hello Bill, thanks for your reply, let me know when you are ready, thanks Graham
Graham Sharpe

Hi Graham, if all else fails I have a set of complete front hubs with steering arm ect.. Shipping would be from Canada for any of parts from this assembly.
Cheers, Hugh
